Just a simple question as to how to go about prepaying for a shared cabin on a cruise with someone you never met and only found on through a site such as cruisemates.com I will under no circumstances send money to someone I don't know and may never see and usually go with a tour agency such as Touraid. Any suggestions on how to safely protect oneself from scams? Thanks and have a great day and a wonderful voyage
Don't ever "send" someone else money. Make your payments to the travel agent. Don't send CC info via email. Do it over the phone and do some research on the travel agent. As Kuki said, make sure you promptly receive a receipt and booking confirmation number. I also strongly advocate using a credit card and not cash or check to pay for your cruise. If something goes wrong you can easily dispute the charge with your CC company and not be out the money.
Also, make sure that your credit card will be charged by the cruise line and not the travel agent or agency. If the agency charges your credit card then this is a red flag and often an indicator that the agency is not very solvent.
