Our TA said our OBC will show on our shipboard account. Has anyone had any problem when you got there?

I would get a copy of your booking invoice from your TA showing the OBC is reflected in your reservation which they should be able provide to you from the cruiseline. This way if there are any problems when you verify it is on your portfolio while onboard, you have evidence of the OBC in hand.

Yes, we did have a problem! As fun2cruise said, get a copy of the OBC that your TA has confirmed. It took a while to get all our OBC, but since we had "proof" we got it before the cruise was over.

If you wait until the cruise is over, it's not going to happen

!

We take our receipt with us showing the OBC. That being said, we were on the Freedom of the Seas about a month ago and we had 2- $100 credits - one for booking while on a previous cruise; the other from our TA. The TA's OBC didn't show up. The cruiseline contacted the TA and they let me call her from the ship free of charge. I got the answering machine and left a message. Anyway, by the time the TA took care of it, it was too late to be posted. There was an email for me from my TA when I arrived home. She apologized for the mistake and said that she would send my $100. I believe if you have a good TA it will be take care of.

On our last cruise there was a mix up between my TA and Carnival. Who was at fault is irrelevant because they had no record of the OBC. I contacted my TA, via email, and she was on a cruise in the Med at the time. We did not get the OBC on the cruise but we did get a check for $350 one week after we returned home.

No:

Whoever wants to give the cruise line money for OBC then the cruise line is more than happy to take it.

Having said that: A TA won't stay in business too long if they give away all their commission as OBC.

I've had over $800 in OBC between TA and Cruise line OBC. This was a Baltic cruise, in a full Suite and NCL had a very good promotion for OBC for suites.

I heard that some TA's give a higher percentage of on board credits in the belief that it will generate more business in the future.

My OBC horror story was from two years ago. I was on Voyager of the Seas on 12 night med cruise. It took the front desk a week to get it fixed. They ended up calling the office in Miami; I did have a copy of my obc; just glad I was on 12 night cruise; I have $1250 OBC for my upcoming cruise; I have copies of the emails from Royal stating the credits have been applied to my account.

We booked with a TA and on our paper work it states $100.00 OBC offered. Should I call the cruise line to see if they have a copy of it so that way it can be dealt with before hand if they don�t see it on their end?

Cruiseline will probably not speak with you regarding the financials on your booking since it is booked with a TA. But when looking at your cruise docs, the OBC should be listed.

It's only listed on the papers I got from the TA nothing on Carnival docs when I go online and look at all my stuff.

Why don't you stop by your travel agents office. Have your agent call Carnival while your there; and that way you will have confirmation directly from the cruise line; that your credit is in your account.

I spoke with her today and she assures me it will show up 2-3 days into the cruise. I did call Carnival and they were very helpful, they suggested I call my TA and have her call them so my account will reflect the credit and it will show up on my Carnival cruise docs. However when I told her she said it will not show up on my cruise docs but will show up 2-3 days into the cruise. I�m sure she�s right, as she books many of the people�s cruises on this board as well as the CM cruises.

What your TA said is correct. Most OBC will not show up for a couple of days into the cruise. I usually check mine with the Purser's Desk on day 3. My TA gives me a copy of her copy of our OBC's and we've never had a problem. The OBC doesn't show up immediately because they're still working with "new" cruiser's and their problems

Most agent OBC's are not shown on your cruise line reservation. They show up a day or two into the cruise. That's just the way it is and you have to take them at their word.

Aero: If something does happen and you do not receive the OBC the agent you have will make sure you receive it either during or upon your return.
