Have you checked to see if your Hotel has a shuttle? Otherwise, there are plenty of taxi's at the airport, they wait in a long line to get their turn, you shouldn't have a problem.
Can anyone please recommend a good cab company in Fort Lauderdale I want to take a cab to my hotel not a shuttle.
Are you referring to when you arrive in the city to get to your hotel, or, when you get off the ship, to go to a hotel? Leaving the ship, the line of cabs, is right there. Whatever company comes up, that's your cab. If you are leaving a hotel, you might ask the desk to call you a cab, but they are always floating around there too. To my mind, one is not better or worse then the other.

Not actually something you need to know unless you are taking a taxi from a private residence to your hotel.
You can grab a taxi at the taxi stand at the airport, have the front desk of your hotel call a taxi for you to take you to the port, shopping or whatever and you can grab a taxi right at the pier when you disembark.
If you need to know where the taxi stand at the airport is, just ask anyone and they will tell you. The porters are the best people to get the information from at the port. Or just follow one.
Take care,
Mike

I'm not sure if it's the same as Chicago, but here the cab drivers will rip you off if you don't order a cab in advance and have the fare quoted. If you just hop in a cab at Chicago's airport it will end up costing you a whole lot more then it should. This is why I was hoping someone could recommend a company they have used before.

When you get in the cab, ask the price from point a, to point b, & make sure they put the flag down. In this city, of a million cruisers, unless you would ask your hotel, to call you one, they recommend, a cab, is a cab, is a cab. The mileage between, the port and airport is low.

Check this website - it can give you approximate taxi fares from one location to another. It is just a guide but gives you some idea on the cost of a taxi trip.
That is why it is important to use the taxi stands at the airport and to have your hotel call a cab. They will not use "gypsy cabs". Only certain taxi companies are allowed to pick up at the airport.
Also: Some of the best sources of information are taxi drivers. When you do get a cab ask them what cab companies to avoid. You will usually get an honest answer.
Take care,
Mike
