I am sure it was not because of the Concordia but we booked a 10 night cruise on the MSC Poesia for Dec 2012 a balcony for the price of an inside. Total for two including taxes and port charges under $1800.

Haven't seen anything with Carnival. We're booked on the Conquest in September and there's no movement on the prices. I was hoping, but the bargains seems to be overseas, not state side.
Just the other day I received an email offer for $300 off any Costa cruise. Carnival sent it and said so as I am a past Carnival cruiser and they own Costa and said as much in the email..
No great bargains on this side of the pond, but the season is only just starting.
We are being hit hard by fuel surcharges keeping the average cost of a 'cheap' cruise over £100 pppn (incl. taxes), which then reduces to say £70 to £80 depending on cruiseline, ship size, destinations etc.
We have also had the "buy an outside, get a balcony" promotions from most of the Carni Corp. lines that are operating out of the UK, but nothing that we've found to get excited about yet.
Alan.
