Changing User Name
 

Does anyone know how to change your name to a different one.

You can't.

But if you send me a Private Message with the new user name I can change it for you.

I always thought it was a no-no to change names??

It is perfectly all right to ask us to change your username if you are unhappy with it.

What we do not allow is people registering with more than one name and hiding their true identity. People will do that to promote their own business, for example, or sometimes to masquerade as a person from another website.

Or sometimes they just want to distance themselves from some past posts.

Now, if you ask for a simple change in username you will still have the same posts, just under a new name. We also get requests from people to delete their accounts entirely, usually from people who were seeking cruise mates to sail with... We also honor those requests.

But just to be clear - we do not normally allow people to have more than one active account with CruiseMates at a time - because (as I just said) that is usually done to promote some things, like a travel agent or tour operator.

However - if someone wanted to post in discussions under one name - and then create a different name for a discrete posting looking for a sail companion, I could understand that. And frankly, if a person did that I would not have a problem.

Already done. Someone got my username and password from my computer. I've been hacked on a number of different times in the last couple of months. Currently changing a l prof ID's and passwords.

People should think before posting phototos of themselves or family members on an internet website . Using ones real name is also a no-no on internet sites .

I learned the hardway ,my accounts were hacked into and it caused many problems .
