I'm really tempted to skip a port on my cruise as we only have one sea day. I'm on the Valor. Besides the expensive spa, gym and swimming in the pool will there be any activity's on the ship? I know the stores are all closed, I think the casino is too what about the bars on the ship, and is there any entertainment or bands playing while docked?

Activities on board during a port day are the same as sea days. Bingo, card game meetups, trivia, music by the pool, rock climbing, minigolf, movies etc. If your uncertain bring a book or a couple magazines, sun tan lotion and work on the tan.
Shops and casino are closed in port plus an hour or so but all bars are open.
BOOKED: Holland Oosterdam May 25; 7N ship, 4N Anchorage, 6N Denali, 5N Denver
11 cruises in 2012, 90 nights at sea visiting 15 countries
8 cruises in 2013, 56 nights at sea visiting 7 countries
You will find limited activities on port days, but yes, bars still open and they serve drinks by the pool. Just a very relaxed day with half an empty ship...Not a bad idea if you have already been to the port and don't care to get off. No stores or casino open...
After more Carribbean cruises than I can remember we now skip ports like Grand Cayman and St. Thomas.
You will find there are still activities on the ship but there are fewer than on sea days. Bars are still open and now there is little live music by the pool. The normal food venues are open.
I find skipped port days the most relaxing of all days on the ship. Great chance to just kick back and relax.
Take care,
Mike

I've only left the ship at Freeport once, and I've had it on my itinerary many times. Port days are spa days for me (book early) and I've also enjoyed the smaller crowds.
