Megans Bay St.Thomas questions

Does anyone know the price of a taxi to Megans bay beach and the cost of chair rentals there? Also do you arrange a taxi for the return or just grab one at the beach? Are there inexpensive places to eat for lunch? Are the venders pesty? Is the area safe? Is there a fee to get on the beach if so how much? About how long is the taxi ride there and back?

They have open air buses that go every few mins from port and it's something like $20 RT.. You just hop on the next one when returning(20mins trip). There is an entrance fee but it's nominal like $4 to the government. You can get a chair for $5 or bring a towel they have picnic tables to sit at if you get there early and grab one.

It's very safe and I would guess it's all run by one company or the government. Food and drinks in the one bar isn't cheap you might want to plan on going to lunch when in town after returning. If you want to drink a lot and want to save money bring a six pack from the many local liquor stores or a liter of bargain vodka for $4 liter.

Beautiful beach and decent snorkeling. Variety of fish was small but quantity is huge plus they have a few turtles and many sting rays if you go farther away from the crowds.

Don't forget the sunblock!

They also have the open air bus's waiting there for the return trip. They go through downtown, and you can get off and shop there, or continue back to the port area, where there is more shopping.

One hint...if by chance you decide to take a picture of one of the locals, around the beach area, dressed in costume, or the guy with Madonna the donkey...they expect to be paid for the photo op.

Do I need to book taxi in advance from Airport to the pier? How much a taxi at airport will cost for two persons to Carnival Pier?

Vod,
What pier are you going to from what airport?
