booking train Cherbourg to Paris

We are disembarking 1 day early, in Cherbourg, Normandy as we dont want to buy a visa for the uk. Are there frequent trains from Cherbourg to Paris? We dock at 10am and our train leaves Paris for Buges at 18.20pm. We dont seem to able to book that leg of the trip - Cherbourg-Paris - does anyone know why not?

Have you checked raileurope.com? Your date may be too far in the future for a schedule to be posted.

Unfortunately trains to Paris from Cherbourg aren't very frequent, plus have a transfer time of between 3 and 4 hours depending on train type.
If you take a look at the website Rail Europe: train tickets and InterRail | Voyages-sncf you will be able to play with dates & times to see what I mean.
You can also see the train times from Paris (Note different station) to Bruges/Brugge (I am presuming that is what you meant). These are more frequent, but again you are looking at a more than a 4 hour transfer, so make sure you have plenty of time.

Are you planning on rejoining the ship in Bruges? If so, then please note it docks at Zeebrugge, so that is another train transfer from Brugge to Blankenberge (14 minutes)
(Official website of NMBS/SNCB - Home) followed by either the ship's shuttle bus or a taxi to the cruise terminal

Hope this is helpful,

Alan

Also - the docks in Zeebrugge are quite a distance away from the train station, and it is an industrial shipyard so you will NOT find (m)any taxis there. We took the train from Zeebrugge to Brugges, and we ended up walking between the ship to the train station BOTH ways. We wanted to catch a taxi back to the ship, but none would stop for us. They already had passengers who had taken the taxi all the way to Brugges.
