Medical advice opinion

We're going on a 15-day cruise to Hawaii Sunday. My friend traveling with me is 94 and has a cyst by her groin/thigh that is still draining some puss & some blood. She has no pain, although, she is on anti-biotics. I know the ship has an excellent medical staff, but my question is, should I cancel or postpone the trip or go for it??? Any advice will be appreciated.

This is a question that only your friend's physician can answer. Have her talk to her doctor and he/she will tell her if she is able to cruise.

The ship's doctors and facilities are not equipped to handle major issues and if a problem occurs a person with a serious medical issue will be transported to the nearest hospital as soon as possible. The ship's infirmary is not a hospital.

Take care,
Mike

First off, what does her doctor say? A cyst does not sound like it would be an major issue at this point, since she has seen the doctor, and on meds, but, you never know..Her age might factor into an unexpected issue...

I hope you do have travel insurance, with good medical coverage stressed. Talk to your travel agent and more importantly, her doctor.... wishing you both a good cruise.
