Default Cruising to Egypt

I have been considering cruising to Egypt for awhile, but I have been hesitant not knowing what the conditions really were in Egypt. Can anyone give me an update about not just the cruising but getting off the ship and traveling to things like the pyramids.

Must be that Egypt is too dangerous to go to since no one responded to my request

Cruise lines would not endanger the ship, passengers, or crew. If thy are still going there then it must be safe enough. If you go out on your own, caveat emptor.

Cruise ships dock in Alexandria, this port is quite far from the Giza Pyramids and Spynx. Most ships used to spend the night to allow guests traveling to Cairo to have enough time to see all the sights. If you go to statedept.Gov, you can find out what is going on in Egypt and if the state dept recommends going to Egypt

In fact, I just wrote an article that shows that tourists are now returning to Egypt. Abercrombie and Kent had to add four or five additional sailings on the Nile in 2014 and 2015 to keep up with demand.

It looks like Egypt is back - thank Goodness.

We've been wanting to see Cairo and follow it with a river cruise on the Nile. All of the major river cruise companies canceled them after the uprising, so we've been watching this with interest.

Avalon hasn't yet added their river cruises on the Nile back to their itineraries, which is the one we really wanted to do. But Viking added some starting in February 2015. It appears they are slowly starting to get back to business, so perhaps next year we may finally get the chance to see this amazing country.
