Looking for land and sea combo on mid size ship, the smaller the better. Have ruled out "vessels" because of expense. What is best ship line suggestion that combines best sea and land explorations and more than 7 days. Don't care for on board entertainment, looking more for exploration and learning.
First, you need to talk to a Cruise Specialist who's been there done that so they can advise you from a firsthand experience and answer all your questions. It's important to find the best cruise for you based on your needs, budget, and lifestyle.
Now, with that said, everyone will have their personal favorites and will say theirs is the best. But keep in mind what one person loves, another will hate.
Okay, having been there and having personal knowledge of all the cruise lines, I personally think that Holland America offers a wonderful product to be considered when cruising and touring in Alaska. They've been there longer than all the other cruise lines, have more ships there, and really know how to do the cruise tours. We did a 14-night cruise tour that was awesome! There are only 3 cruise lines that own their own lodges in Alaska (Holland America, Princess, and RCCL/Celebrity), but Holland America is the only cruise line that also all their own hotels where their guests stay during the tour.
I would select Princess as my next choice followed by RCCL/Celebrity.
Holland and Celebrity are more for the older crowd, but they are also better in quality, especially for food.
Again, that's just my personal opinions.
