Default List of luggage maximums for various cruise lines?

Hi there

I am relocating to Europe from the US and decided to take a nice Atlantic cruise to get there.

That said, I am bringing *all* of my personal items for this permanent move on the cruise with me. Obviously, I'm not bringing furniture or anything crazy like that, but I will bring my clothes and household goods (except kitchen knives and other restricted items, of course.) I would be one person, traveling alone in my own cabin, and would have a porter handle the luggage.

Is there a list of luggage maximums for all cruises lines? I'd like to find the line that allows the most baggage of course.

I see that NCL has instituted a two checked baggage maximum, while Carnival only *recommends* taking up to two bags. How relaxed is Carnival? What other cruise lines can you recommend for relaxed, or no baggage restrictions at all? What is the reality of taking lots of bags on versus *official policies*? Are they enforced?

When I disembark, would I need to pay customs taxes on my used personal goods I am bringing?

Thoughts? Suggestions? How many suitcases do you think I can reasonably bring? 3? 5? 7? Another amount? Please vote

This is definitely a question for the cruise lines and Customs and Immigration.

I don't anyone has made "move" on a cruise ship. Most cruise lines "suggest" two suitcases per passenger. Cunard is a bit more liberal but I doubt a pallet of boxes would be allowed.

Call the cruise line you wish to sail and find out their policy.

I'm fairly sure that you will need to "Declare" everything you are taking so have a manifest ready.

Enjoy,
Mike

I don't thing that there is maximum allowance of luggage per person. I have seen passengers with 3+ pieces per person and I have never heard that a passenger pay for extra luggage. But you can ask cruise line.

Breakfast times vary by ship; the times above are provided as a general guideline. one 750 ml bottle of wine or champagne, per person, only in their carry-on luggage.A small quantity is considered a maximum of 12 bottles and/or cans, 20 ounces each or less.According to our policy, Carnival conducts security scanning of all baggage and Please be sure each piece of luggage is unlocked and has a tag listing your air carrier to obtain their luggage allowance policy for the maximum number.
