It is unfortunate that some passengers feel the need to stiff the waitstaff
some feel if they do not eat in the dining room they do not need to tip.
Just do your best & smile

Well, I wish you luck on your new position with Celebrity - personally, the
staff especially in the main dining room on the Summit was Outstanding
and we even increased the suggested tipping guide. However, Princess
was a different story for us - the entire experience with the staff from
the officers on down to purser's and below (except our cabin attendant)
was NOT pleasant (and we are not "complainers", as a rule). Didn't like
the indifferent attitudes on the ship and the overall atmosphere was
extremely "subdued" compared to Costa the year before and Celebrity
Summit last Jan.2007. I think if you have a smile on your face and a pleasant attitude - you will do fine. Of course, long hours of work but
most of the wait staff on the Summit had been there for years and had
plans on renewing their contracts in the summer.
I am sorry to hear people stiff the help. I for one like the automatic tipping and add extra for room and wait staff. So far I have never felt the waiter did not deserve extra. Good luck with you next assignment. Mike

Majority of the cruises now automatically charge per day tips from the passengers onboard account (10.00 per day for Carnival for example) so the crew gets there pay by end of cruise. When I first started cruising back in 98 everybody payed in evelopes at end of cruise which explained why most didnt go to the last dinner in dining room.
