I have heard that St. Martin now has a new cruise ship pier. Has anyone visited St. Martin latlely and has you cruise ship docked there. Is it close to the center on town?

Hi Paul,
I've heard from another cruiser just there that the pier was open, right by the town.
Although he said a few ships still had to tender, guess the pier is not huge and can't accodomate everyone on some days??

I was in ST. Maarten in November on the Grandeur of the Seas, all cruise ships that day had to tender, it was us, the Grand Princess, and the Costa Atlantica. The harbor didn't look deep enough close to shore to support a large cruiseship.

I was in St. Maarten on the Grandeur in Dec. The new pier was not yet open and we and the Grand Princess had to tender in. From what I coculd see I am guessing that it will be a short to medium walk into the center of town. For anyone who has been to St.Maarten, the pier is to your right as you look at the present dock.

Marc, how did you like the Grandeur? This was my second time on her and I think she is a wonderful ship.

Sailed to St Martin in early Feb this year. New pier is open. Still a three dollar per person cab ride to city. We took water taxi from ship at $6 per day per person for unlimited use.
