Default Questions on shore activities

Just got docs for 4/29 Enchantment. Trying to figure out what to do in port. For St. Martin, will probably do Orient Beach in the afternoon. For morning, trying to decide whether to shop or do an island tour. How is the shopping? Then for St. Thomas, has anyone done any interesting excursions? Have done snorkeling at St. John's. Enjoyed it but don't know if we want to do it again. Also have to decide whether to do these things on our own or do the ship's excursions. Thanks for any info!

Hi Connie,
We did a snorkeling tour in St. Thomas, called the "wild thing", was great fun and we did end up at Trunk Bay in St. John, but understand they usually go to Buck island. I didn't mind, have been to Trunk Bay before, but it was just a beautiful the second time around. I've heard the champagne Cataraman excersion is also great, nice relaxing beach/sailing day, you may want to give that a try. Do try to spend some time doing a little shopping in St. Maarten, hear its almost a good as St. Thomas :-) Enjoy Enchantment!

We took the around the island tour in St. Thomas and it was great. Prefer the ferry over to St.John and that excursion, as the scenery is just beautiful.

Since you have been to St. John why not save money and taxi to Maegen's Bay in the morning, return to town to shop, then get back on the ship. In St. Martin, I would highly recommend the ship's tour to Orient Beach especially if it includes lunch but get there in the morning. Don't forget the sun gets stronger in the afternoon. Stop in town for your shopping on the way back. St. Martin has better values than St. Thomas still. We were there just 3 weeks ago.
Bon Voyage

St. Martin has great shopping, you'll love it. If you plan on going to the French side, go in the morning. Wed. is market day on the French side and I heard the traffic gets backed up going through there. Save your shopping for the afternoon after a morning tour to avoid getting to the ship late and left behind by the ship if you are on a non-ship sponsored tour. The ship will wait for ship sponsored tours to arrive, if late. There is a beautiful beach right at Phillipsburg you can take in without traveling the long distance to the French side.

St. Thaomas also has good shopping. On some things like cameras it is better. But both places have better quality items in abundance. Go into town to shop also. Don't just shop at Havensight Mall at the ship docks. There are many nice small shops downtown and it is only a $1 or $2 Jitney ride into town.
