Parts of Orient Beach are topless/part clothing optional. Also, we have been on Cupecoy which is clothing optional and the tides can get very rough. The beach area now right at the tender pier is a lot wider and very nice. Don't need to waist your money at Everything's Cool though.
We were on Princess two years ago to St. Martin. We never take shore excursions sold by the ship...we always rent a car and do our own thing. We went to Orient Beach...no big deal. Stay in the dutch side of St. Martin and you won't see much topless/nede beach stuff. If you want that sort of thing, there are plenty of beaches on the french side. Topless is the norm and really expected
Just got back from a week in St. Martin. It is true about the fact that you will find some topless folks at most of the beaches except Phillipsburg (town beach). After the first shock, you don't even notice.
Phillipsburg near the boat dock has a lovely beach where you can rent chairs and umbrellas. We did that on our cruise last Dec. when we stopped in St. Martin.
Other nice beaches are Oyster Pond/Dawn Beaches on the Dutch side. There is a hotel there where you could call a cab. There is a nice luncheonette there as well. These are closer than Orient Beach. Orient Beach has a lot of watersports and is very nice. One side is nudist and the other side (Bikini Beach) is for families. A stroll on the nudist side is depressing. Either there are bodies you have absolutely no desire to see (unless you get off on 80 year old, wrinkled, fat bodies) or bodies that are so good, you never want to look at your own again.
