First time cruiser going to Calica and Cozumel. Leaving June 2nd on Celebration. Going with my husband and son (19 yrs old). The trips we have been looking at in Calica is the Cancun shopping trip by bus. In Cozumel, we have been looking at either the Fiesta party Boat or the Catamaran Snorkel and Sailing. My son wants to snorkel and me and my husband want to go to the beach. I really would appreciate any input on these excursions.
I would suggest going to Chakanaab(sp??) state park while docked in Cozumel. Your son can go snorkeling, and you and your Husband can enjoy a beautiful beach.
Its about a 10 min. cab ride from the dock. We were there in 2001 and it cost $10.00 pp to get in. And the grounds are very nice to walk around and explore. There is also a restaurant with really good guacamole & chips and great Margaritas.
THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE INFO. So they drive crazy? My son will like that. Any problems with watching your personal items. Would like to take a camera and camcorder. Do they have clean showers/restrooms? What about bugs? Do we need bug spray?
to answer your questions, yes you can rent lockers at Channuunkaub Park. Very nice, very clean, no bugs to speak of, just the occasional sand flea but that's normal on any beach. You might want to make a stop in at Carlos & Charlies after a long hot day at the beach for a marquerita. Its right on the main drag, and depending upon where your ship is docked its a nice walk back to the pier.
We were there in September, no bugs. There are lockers, and the bathrooms were "relatively" clean. Typical for a beach restroom I'd say. But leave your valuables on the ship, no reason to ask for trouble!
I wanted to say thank you for asking all the questions i wanted to ask. My boyfriend and I are taking the same cruise in the end of July and this has been very helpful.
Thanks again, and have fun on your cruise!!!
I was at the park last October and it was still 10.00 per person to get in. I was afraid to go because of the iguanas (they get big!). I am so glad I stepped out of my comfort zone. The park was a pleasant surprise. I swam with the dolphins. The excursion you buy on the ship is the not the Dolphin Swim it is the Dolphin Encounter. The swim was great! You are in the water with the dolphins and they interact with everyone.
My family leaves June 7 and is headed to Playa del Carmen for the first time. We have been to Cozumel and are looking forward to park again. What is the expense of the dolphin swim and what is there to do in Playa del Carmen as it is our first time to go there. We are taking 4 teens - ages 14-16. And, for those of you who have sailed on the Holiday....how is it? And, what is the cost of the golf analysis on board? I'm just full of questions ...hope some of you are full of answers! Thanks in advance!!!
