DON'T MISS THE DOLPHIN ENCOUNTER AT ANTHONY'S KEY RESORT. IT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF OUR TRIP. YOU WILL ENJOY THE RESORT ITSELF. IT IS SORT OF GILLIGANS ISLAND KIND OF PLACE. WITH THE CABINS ON STILTS RIGHT OUT IN THE WATER OF THE LAGOON. DOLPHINS ALL OVER, FREE TO COME AND GO IN AND OUT THE MOUTH OF THE LAGOON.
THE RESORT HAS IT'S OWN WEB SITE THEIR NAME AND DOT COM. YOU CAN FIND OUT IF YOU COULD TAXI OVER ON YOUR OWN.
WE DID IT THROUGH THE SHIP AND IT WAS PRICY BUT WORTH IT. BRING YOUR VIDEO CAMERA ! THEN TAXI BACK TO TOWN NEXT TO PIER AND ENJOY THE CHARMING NON PUSHEY PEOPLE, AND THE QUAINT SHOPS LOADED WITH HAND CARVED MAHAGONY ITEMS AT VERY LOW PRICES. YOU WILL LOVE ROATAN. BUT THERE IS NOT A WHOLE LOT TO DO THERE. IT WAS A NEW PIER WHEN WE WENT 3 YEARS AGO, NCL ONLY SHIPS STOPPING THERE.
I did the Tabyana (sp?) beach tour on roatan -- there is great snorkeling just off the beach -- If you have your own equip. you don't need to pay extra for the tabyana snorkel trip as it goes to the same place.
The trip there gives you a great view of the island hopefully they have improved the road from 2 years ago.
I think Roatan would be a hard to do on your own -- though did hear a couple say they went to salt and pepper beach --
Heard the Stingray tour is fantastic in Belize - our family is cruising on the Sun on the Jan 5 and we're leaning toward the Cavetubing and Jungle walk, which I have read is wonderful! Happy Cruising next week!
