Default boat rental st. john

Going on the Infinity soon and I would like info on renting a small powerboat on St. John. Has anyone done this before and if so is it possible to go to trunk bay and cinnamon bay easily? Is there a marked channel or is it uncharted? I heard somewhere on these boards that there were rentals when you get off the ferry in Cruz Bay.

I've used Nauti-Nymph before http://www.st-thomas.com/nautinymph/
and I also hire captains from them to take me around

It's a bit expensive, but those are the best days I've ever spent in the Caribbean. The water is full of reefs, and after a while all of the islands start to look the same, so it's easy to get dis-oriented; so my advice would be to hire the captain also. They also know the area well so can take you to the best spots. Keep in mind, the best spots change seasonally and due to recent weather.

They're based out of St. Thomas at Red Hook, but they've actually picked me up right at Charlotte Amelia with the boat. Saves you some time!

If you do this, then I wouldn't go to Trunk Bay. There are areas that are less crowded with better snorkelling, and in my opinion, better beaches. DEFINITELY go to The Indians. GREAT SNORKELING.

I hope you are able to rent the powerboat! You'll have a great time.

I don't recall exactly. I think to the NW of St. John. It's just a rock outcropping in the Caribbean, but the snorkelling was excellent. It was somewhere between Trunk Bay St. John and The Caves of Norman (this also was pretty cool!)
