Does anyone know if you can rent or charter a power boat in St. Croix from either Fred. or Chris. to take over to Buck Island? I see that the ship's offer a catamaran and a sailing package but I was looking for a quicker way to get over there than in a sailboat? (Kids don't have the patience for sailing) It appears that the ships excursion is sometimes referred to as a cattle herding experience, not what I'm looking for.
We were just there 12/23/01 (Buck Island), but did the sailboat. Understand about the patience. It took about an hour to get over there and 45 minutes to get back. (Wind patterns I guess). However, it was neat seeing the sea turtles on the way and the condos of the rich and famous! www.buckisland-diva.com is who we used
Sailboat took no more than 6 passengers (we had four total - two couples)
Understand about the catamarans - saw herds of 50+ on them.
Captain Francis sails out of Green Cay - just a few miles east of Christiansted. I'd highly recommend him.
(Wrote a longer review on cruisecritic.com - boards - ports - St Croix)
Mandy, could you reference your review? I didn't see it on the ports boards on cruise critic - is it under Mandy? When you sail with Captain Francis, is it a round trip with time for snorkeling? What is the price?
