We will be visiting Cozumel and Calica/Cancun the last week of Feb. on the Carnival Celebration. We're planning to go to XCaret. The ship only offers a tour from Calica/Cancun. We'd like to go on
our longer day in Cozumel. Any helpful hints? How about any problems traveling on the ferry? We're traveling with our 17 year old son and 15 year old daughter. Any suggestions? Our son wants to scuba dive, but has never been before. We're also going to be traveling with another couple and their 6 year old. How about the shopping? We've been to Cozumel once, but only for a short time. I don't think we saw the best part. We went to the places that the ship reccommended and probably missed a lot. We did the Catamaran tour and thought it was great (except for the sanitary conditions of their snorkeling equipment). We'll be in Calica/Cancun from 7:00 to 4:00--any suggestions?
We went to Xcaret a few years ago. It was an amazing trip. However, it did last pretty much the whole time that we were in port. The trip was very well organized and the 45 minute ferry ride was not a problem. As for scuba diving, I do believe that they offer a beginners one time class. Getting his scuba certification before leaving would allow your son to see the best of Cozumel diving. We dove there this past march, and will again this June. I have some great pictures from that trip.
The only suggestion that may give you a lot in Cozumel for the whole group woud be Chankanaab Park. A few miles from town with a lot to see and do. It cost $10.00 to get in, but check this web site for more information. You can take a taxi for the 6 of you for about $12.00, web firstname.lastname@example.org Bob
I have been to Cancun & Plya del Carmen (Cozulel), many times. Rent a car @ Plya. Easy, direct drive to Xel-Xa, south, the worlds larges natural aquarium. No dive, just snorkle, but wonderful! Plan to arrive early to mid am to avoid the croud. Very nearby is Tulum,
