Has anyone ever booked their "own" day sail with one of the many sailboat operators in St. Thomas? Most of them only take 6 passengers, and that sounds great to us. Also, does the Wild Thing still operate in St. Thomas?
On our last cruise earlier this year, I did see the "wild thing", so it should still be operating. We did that a few cruises ago and it was a ton of fun, ended up at Trunk bay, which they don't always go to, we were lucky that day. Sorry, have never booked our oun boat, good luck with that, sounds like fun :-)
You might want to look on www.vinow.com for more info about day sail. I have been on 2 different day sails when staying at a land resort on St. Thomas and really enjoyed them. I would think that they have sailing times that would mesh with the cruise ship arrival and departure times. I sailed on the Morningstar ship from Sapphire Beach (small 6 person ship) and then another much larger catamaran who's name escapes me.
Here is a pic of "the wild thing", a speed boat that takes you to various places to snorkel, its a gas! When we went, they took us over to St. Johns/Trunk Bay, great afternoon of snorkeling and if you wanted to swim to the beach, you could also do that.
