Considering 2 possibilities in july: 1.drive to galveston for 7 day western caribbean cruise, or 2. fly to miami for 7 day eastern carribbean cruise.
need advice/opinions re pros and cons, particularly regarding weather/ choppy water at that time of year, and the different iteneraries. we are a family of 4 with one prior cruise--a 3 day bahama cruise (we loved it)
What are the ships you are considering? Be sure to check out all the ports and see which ones sound more interesting for you and your family and decide by that. Then check out the different ships that crusie to those areas and go from there, of course, always think about the price and how far of a drive to Texas are you talking about?
Hope it all works out for you, if you enjoyed the first/shorter cruise, you'll love a full week and probibaly want more!
Have Fun, let us know which ship and itinary you finally decide on, OK?
i'm considering (and leaning toward) RCI Rhapsody of the Seas from galveston. & hour drive and use the money saved on airfare to upgrade cabin); or RCI Enchantment of the Seas for an eastern Caribbean cruise out of Miami. What do you think about these iteneraries in July?
Considering the major savings of just an hour drive and going on Rhapsody, that would be my choice. Everyone should do a Western Caribbean at least once and been on Rhapsody, beautiful ship, definitely try to get a balcony cabin, they are wonderful, worth the extra IMHO :-) You can always do an Eastern or Southern Caribbean for your next cruise. Either one will be a thrill for all or you.
If you o do the Western on Rhapsody, be sure to snorkel with the Sting Rays in Grand Cayman, its one of the best excersions. Also Dunns Rivers Falls in Jamaica is fun too for the whole family.
The Rhapsody is a beautiful ship and the family will have a great vacation experience in the Western Ports. There is something different to do in each port; Swim with the Sting Rays, climb Dunn's River Falls, see the ruins at Tulum or sunbath at Playa del Sol in Cozumel. You will have a great time with some nice leisure time at sea. It will be hot but your hurrican threat is usually minimum that early in the Summer.
I've done both the Western and Eastern Itineraries and I personally prefer the Western. I'd go with Galveston and the upgrade. But that's me. I agree with the person that advised you to read up on the ship, activities and ports before you decide.
We prefer Western to Eastern and would rather upgrade the cabin than spend it in airfare. We considered the Rhapsody but found a much better rate for our dates on the Sun (NCL). We went with the ship that gave us the best cabin for the money, but we're people who like to spend time relaxing in a cabin.
