I am going on the Galaxy to St. Thomas, San Juan, St Maarten, and Nassau. Can you get to any beaches or resort hotels without taking a taxi or other transportation? Also, any recommendations on hotel beaches?
In St. Thomas there is really no beach you can walk to. Recommendationn for public beaches with facilities would include Maegens Bay and Coki Beach. In St. Martin one can actually go to the beach in Great Bay, right in town behind all the shops There are literally dozens of other beaches that would be a cab ride ( or bus if you are quite adventurous). High on my list of recomended beaches is Dawn Beach. Public beach on Dutch side with all facilities necessary for a good beach day. Attracts tourists and locals alike. Can't help much with Puerto Rico. I don't think there is a beach near the piers. Nassau , you can go to the beach on Paradise Island at some of the hotels.
I would highly recommend Cable Beach. Can be reached by bus(very cheap and very civilized). All of Cable Beach is public, even that in front of the hotels. Hotels may frown on using their chairs etc, but the beaches are public.
