Curious about golfing in the islands while on a cruise. The book we got from Celebrity Cruises lists different golf courses on different islands we are stopping at. Barbados, St Maarten, St. Kitts, St Thomas and St. Lucia. Anyone have a suggestion as to which one to play. Not taking my own golf clubs, so will only play one game while away. Are the rental golfclubs good quality? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Most ships have golf excursions which include guaranteed tee times, transportation, usually something to eat at the turn and the assurace that you will get back to the ship on time. Courses on all the islands you mention rent clubs, quality is acceptable so long as you use regular flex. You will probably be paired with shipmates, which may or may not be a good thing.
Why not take your own clubs? You don't have to heft them.
Getting your own tee time through the internet and taking a cab is doable, possibly cheaper but risky. They don't blow a horn is the ship leaves early.
Only course on those islands I've personally played is Mahogany Run in St Thomas, but that was a couple hurricanes ago. Great course with hills and valleys.
