Default Cozumel Beaches West side?

We want to go a beach and relax, no frills, no toys, no open bar, shops, etc...

What I want to know is can we plunk ourselves down on any beach on Cozumels eastside. I read that all of Cozumels beaches are public, does that mean there is an admission cost?

Any feedback would be appreciated, especially pertaining to Playa san francisco, Playa san juan, playa escondida, and chankanaab park.

Also which one of these offers the most privacy.

Thanks.

I was there last april and we drove across the island past the ruins and where the road turns to go towards the resorts and back to town there is a mile or two of of beaches they are wide open with a couple of cheap bars for refreshment that have hammocks to lay in for free.
Had a great time there the wave's where huge.

I'm confused as to which side you are wanting to go to. The first week of December, I rented a car at the pier to drive around the island and stop at the beaches on the deserted westside. There were a couple restaurants/bars with bathrooms. One was nice enough to eat and change clothes there. Few cars were on the road (maybe saw 7-8 others) and there were many pull-offs (unofficial) along the road to walk down to the beach and enjoy your self. I don't have info on the resort side of the island.
