Default Jamica: Non-ship excursions

Hi All,

I'll have 6 to 8 people going to Jamica aboard an RCCL cruise, and I was wondering if anyone has references to reputable tour operators in Jamica. We'd like to book something outside of the ships excursions so that we can see more of the island. Thanks in advance

Which port in Jamaica will the ship be sailing to?

My suggestion is Peat Taylor, we and 7 other folks had the pleasure of using him April 2001, it was great, we saw a whole lot more than if we would have booked thru the Cruise line. The price was right as well it cost us 25.00 per person plus most of us tipped. He was ours for as long as we wanted his services.
You should do a search and I am sure you will find lots of info on him. I know there is lots on other sites. eg. Cruise additcs and cruise critics.

Does anyone have ideas for what excursion I shouldn't miss? I tend to like very active excursions like snorkeling, diving, mountain exploration (loved the volcano at Guadalope :-), etc.

I haven't done much web-research on this yet so pardon my ignorance

I agree - Peat Taylor was great! He took us to the Falls which we climbed, picked us up after 2 hrs, drove around the island (including the the rainforrest), after which you have an option to be dropped off at the beach, in town (not much to do) or at the ship. He's very informative, made many stops to take pictures. I highly recommend him - the best money we spent. Well worth it!

Here's Peat's web site: http://www.geocities.com/peattaylor/island_tour.html

I didn't see snorkelling or scuba on his of activities. Any recommendation for snorkelling and/or scuba

We used Carolyn Barrett just this month. She and her husband have a tour business. It was the best money we have ever spent on a tour. If you do a Google search for Carolyn Barrett Jamaica you will find her. They customize your tour to what you want, stays with you all day and are very informative. Please check them out.
