Default Roatan

We are not beach people, what is there to do on this island besides the beach? Are taxi's available at the port to take you around for the day? What is there to buy here?
Thanks for your help.

There are tons of taxis waiting at the pier hoping you will pick them. I don't know what else there is to do on Roatan besides snorkeling and beaching, it has some of the best diving in the world.

There is an open air type market across the street from the pier with BEAUTIFUL handcrafted wood items at cheap prices. We got a handcarved mahagony salad bowl set for $23 and a Roatan door hanging that was handcarved and painted. The market area is one of those stops that made you wish you drove to the cruise so you could buy what your eally wanted to without having to worry about how it was going to get home on the airplane. Plan to spend a little time looking around at this place, they also have the typical tourist type stuff there.

You might want to do a search on yahoo for Roatan to see if there is any "special" natural attraction on the island if you are interested in looking at that.

There is a day spa on Roatan that will pick you up at the pier and pamper you all day for the price it costs to one treatment on the ship including a big lunch.

How do you get in touch with the day spa? Is it listed on the cruise ships as an execursion? My wife and I are going on our 1st cruise July 27, we will be sailing on the Paradise. Any ideas and what to expect would be very helpful.

We did the catamaran sail and snorkel and had a great time. The owner of the ship is from Texas, I think. You wouldn't know he is the owner unless you sit and talk with him for a while. Their rum punch is excellent and they offer local beer for $1/can. Hubbie tried them both and enjoyed.

My friend and I cruised on the Paradise in April and we highly recommend a day spa in Roatan - Sante' Day Spa run by an American lady, Angela. It was one of the highlights of our trip. You can e-mail her at sante@globalnet.hn

She also has a website explaining the various options available and her prices are very reasonable. You have to book early though because she can only accommodate a few people.

You'll love it I'm sure.
