None of the ship's literature mentioned the water taxi, nor did the cruise guide give it more emphasis than the taxis. The new (so they say) cruise ship pier is quite a way from town.
The mini vans are lined up for three bucks a head.
However, a water taxi service runs several boats continuously from the head of the pier to the town's north pier, then to the main pier (about four blocks down the road) and back. Three dollars one way or $5 all day. Can't beat it. I went in town, looked around, back to the ship, got wife who didn't like the looks of the place from our balcony, and was back downtown in less than an hour.
She did her usual Caribbean shopping for less than prices in St Thomas. Evidence of beating the island took during the mid 90's hurricanes remain. Stores bustling. Do get inland to really get a feel for the place.
