Default Legend - Martinique (Short Time in Port)

We will be on the Legend for Thanksgiving and were thinking of renting a car to do our own tour of Martinique. Has anyone done this? We are only there from 7:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. which isn't a lot of time. From what I've read we should be able to accomplish a drive to the volcano, St. Pierre, the cathedral and the gardens. Let me know if you think this is do-able. Also, we would have to drop the rental car off while the location is closed (they open again at 2:30 p.m.) Any thoughts or suggestions are GREATLY appreciated!!!!

I've done a similar tour, and it is doable, but you won't be able to stop and see anything. It still is worth doing as the drive up the coast is beautiful, and the drive back through the central value is also very lush and beautiful. The one thing it will do is make you want to return :-)

By the way, the really isn't much to see in St. Pierre, but the drive there is breath taking.

personally i would hire a driver for the day instead of renting a car. Its basically the same thing except you get a guide who knows the ins and outs of the island with no hassle of driving and getting the car back to the rental place etc.
