We'll be on the Serenade to St. Lucia and a definite MUST DO on our trip is see the pitons, preferably by water. We are thinking of taking a ship sponsored excursion called Catamaran Tour and Fond Doux Estate. Have any of you taken this trip? If so, was it extremely crowded on board? How was it? (We don't care about seeing the volcano or gardens.) This is a long tour and we'd probably not have any time to do anything on land, and no time to see Castries.
There is another tour by Capt. Fred. A group on our ship might charter his yacht and go on a custom tour, w/a land portion and lunch or else the same co. can take us to see the pitons and snorkel. I am hesitant since it's a yacht (sort of looks like a lg. cabin cruise - has 2 "staterooms" the site says) and I am afraid there would be no place on deck to stretch out, relax and sun. Anyone know if there is or how this co. and tour are?(Maybe 20 to 25 people in our group.)
And last, are there many private tour companies that generally show up at the dock and offer to take people on the same types of excursions for less? (Like in Gr. Cayman, there were all sorts of "Stingray City" tour people taking tourists to the same place!)
If you can recommend anything, please don't hesitate to reply. Thanks!
