Snorkeling on the west side of Mexico is a very different experience than on the eastern side. The pacific ocean is anything but peaceful and the beaches are nerrow and drop off fast. All of the snorkeling trips were off of boats. I've snorkled in:
- Acapulco (more like body surfing becasue the waves kept breaking over us)
- Ixtapa (where we spent all of the time in eather a little fishing boat or in the water, never getting close to a beach)
- Puerto Vallarta (we had a great time saiilng down the coast on a catamaran and then snorkeling at Los Archos)
- Cabo San Lucas the best of all (we took a glass bottom boat to a beautiful beach at the very end of the point.)
If you stop in Costa Rica and have the opportunity to take the river rafting trip do it. The rapids are tame. You'll feel like your floating down a river back in one of the southern states until you see parots flying over head and monkies swinging from the trees.
