St. Thomas on Christmas

Hi eveyone!!
we will be cruising on Millie over the Christmas Holiday. On Christmas day we are suppose to be at St. Thomas with other excusrion options to St. John!
Has anyone been to St. thomas or any other Island on Christmas? Our travel agent tells us that all stores will be closed!! My daughter is bummed!! that was our shopping day!! If all stores are closed we will probably go to St. John, I hear it's beautiful. . .
