Try Melaluca products....made from tea tree oil. I believe they have a website...if not e-mail me and I'll see what else I can find out. I buy it from a relative so it's easy for me to get ahold of. It's the best stuff I've found! I know I'm taking mine when we go in Dec.
Hi, I was down in Mexico in May. We didnt go to Cozemel, but south of Playa Del Carmen. We went to Xel-Ha snorkeling. We had to use eco. safe sun screen as well. I had Hawaiian Tropic and bought it in Playa. Paid $10 for a bottle. I just did a search, try this!
Go to Google and type in "Cozumel snorkeling sunblock" and you will get a number of hits referring to this. I do not know if it is enforced, but if is truly bad for coral and fish I would like to comply with it. One site did say it is required by Mexico when in national water parks.
You have to use the snorkle safe sunblock because something in regular sunblock can damage/pollute the delicate nature of the coral reefs. i have some from when we went to Playa del Carmen. i dont remember having any issues getting it. i think we may have gotten it in Mexico and i dont think it was super expensive. i dont think we found out that we needed it until we got down there. the kind we have is called Caribbean sun life. you shouldnt have any problems finding any down there if you have the time to get some once there.
