The Bahamas water will be a bit too chilly for swimming or snorkeling. January is our favorite time to go there but we don't get in the water.

Is it that much a difference in the Bahamas from December to Janauary??? I remember going to the Bahamas in December, Dec 12th to be exact a few years back and snorkling with it not being cold. Is there a difference from December to January??

We were in the Bahamas in January and it was chilly. Too cold for us to go swimming or snorkeling. A lot depends upon the type of winter we are having.

Depends on where you live! I'm a mile from Lake Michigan, 20 miles from the bridge to the Upper Peninsula and the water here is freezing in August! If it gets above 72 it's a miracle. Adults swim from about July 4 until August 15th, kids go in as soon as the ice melts (which can be as late as May!)

Been in the Bahamas in December, January, February and have always found the water warm enough to swim and snorkle. Of course, we're used to the northern Great Lakes - Superior is an eye-opener any time of the year!

Have a wonderful cruise and just remember - wherever you are, it's probably warmer than where you came from!

Bon Voyage!

I have to agree with some who say that water temp is fine. We are from up north so we are used to FREEZING water, some won't get in the water unless it's bathtub warm, itseems to be whatever you are used to.
