Default day wear? packing....

i am starting to pack for a christmas cruise and was wondering-does everyone pack casual kick-around clothes for every single day? or are you basically in a swimsuit and cover-up all day? so far i have all the dinner stuff and swimsuits ready, just wondering if its necessary to have a week's worth of summer wear or what? (we're going on THE MARINER OF THE SEAS! I am sooo excited!) Thanks for your help

when onbord the ship, most of the day you will be in and out of your swimsuit and cover-up. When going ashore you will most likely be in your shorts for the better part of the day until you go swimming. You can get a few days wear on a pair of shorts, i do pack a shirt for everyday, i split it up into tanks and t-shirts. You will need one pair of good walking sneakers and one pair of water sandals as the ships decks and island sand gets very hot, you will also need a hat (baseball type) are the most popular. A fanny pack (to carry all your daily stuff) and a small back pack for shore excursions (towels, sunscreen, and purchases) You will need a good pair of glare blocking sunglasses.

I do ....I pack always pack extra clothes, never know what you will be doing or what you feel like wearing. Summer clothes don't take up that much room....so an extra top or shorts or capri's could always be there if you need them....better safe then sorry is my motto! you might want to change to go to lunch or into the casino or whatever.
I have also noticed the clothes that I plan on wearing don't always fit as well as after all those dinners and buffets....I have learned to bring a few looser fitting outfits....just in case. enjoy your cruise!

If we have 4 ports of call, I will pack 4 to 5 shorts sets including a couple of extra t's or tops to coordinate with the shorts or capri's. You may wear shorts to the dining room for breakfast or lunch, but you aren't in them that long if you spend time at the pool. I also bring a short dress coverup that can be worn into a dining room. That helps stretch the daytime wardrobe choices. A basic pair of sandals or slides completes the outfit.
