Hi, you can get a taxi and do either a full day or half day tour. If you get a group it is not very expensive. Brimstone Hill Fortress is great and Romney Gardens is beautful. A neat beach is Turtle Beach and the drive there is wonderful too. You will like the Frigate bay area There is a strip of land you drive thru that on one side is the Caribbean and the other the Atlantic.. At Turtle Beach there are monkees to feed. Very cute...get some bannanas. They will come right up to you and snatch it away! We really liked St Kitts. The town is also fun to walk around. You can also take a boat over to Nevis Island.
Have a great time!
Basseterre, the main town on St. Kitts, is really pretty--my guidebook accurately described it as "central casting's idea of a traditional West Indian village." We really enjoyed walking around and admiring the colonial architecture. Kept singing "Love Shack" by the B-52s: "Your tin roof's....RUSTED."
Some people like the St. Kitts scenic railway. I haven't taken it but from what I hear, it's a pleasant, but not extraordinarily exciting, ride. You will really enjoy St. Kitts if you remember that it's a sleepy sugarcane island...just don't expect the flash of St. Thomas or the dramatic scenery of St. Lucia or Dominica.
