I am looking at booking Royal Carribeans Explorer of the seas for April ,the western route, have been on previously with Carnival ( 10 yrs ago) and really enjoyed it ,there was no Labadee stop then. My confusion now is if we should go back to the western or try the eastern on Navigator, what are the differences in the way of snorkelling, water activities, shopping ect. This is alot of $$$ to spend and I really want to enjoy this cruise with my Husband who has never been. We both enjoy snorkelling, and local culture. I have heard that the better ports for snorkelling and cheap liquor , T shirts ect are the western, the eastern is geared more towards shopping???
We are from Belgium and we are going on the western caraiben cruise on voyager leaving from Miami on the 25the of april 04. It is our honeymoon and we also chose
this cruise for the many wateractiveties.
Snorkeling in Labadee, dunn river falls in jamaica, stingray swimming in grand cayman and ane ecopark in Mexico with an underground river.
Eastern Caribbean -breathtaking beautiful turquoise waters with white silky sandy beaches- ok snorkeling - excellent duty-free shopping (liquor, jewlery, cameras, linens, perfumes, china, crystal)
Western Caribbean - more diverse - excellent snorkeling, Mayan Ruins, nice beaches in Cozumel, StingRays and nice beaches in Caymen, Dunns River Falls, River Rafting - party time at Marquertiaville in Jamacia.
