We are going to port in Ocho Rios (8am till 330pm) in May aboard Triumph and are planning an excursion. Is there enough time to do both the Dunn's River Falls as well as the Dolphin Swim at Dolphin Cove? IF so, does anyone know a good guide for both. I've heard good things about Peat Taylor but he says he doesn't do both.. Thanks
My wife and I were at Dunn's River Falls in Ocho Rios last year. It is a very interesting place. Stay clear of the little shopping village there. They are very pushy and try to sell you everything. The falls are really kind of unique and very pretty. However, I am not sure if you can do two excursions in the same day with the hours in port that you mention.
Peat Taylor was our guide, and he was very, very good. He took us all around the internal countryside and showed us the real Jamaica. Very intersting tour guide. He even drove us up to the gates of Mick Jagger's home in Ocho Rios. Also pointed out Ian Flemming's estate where Octopussy was filmed. We were treated to a great view from high on a hill overlooking our ship in the port. Peat was the greatest. Worth every penny.
Have fun on your trip. We are heading to the Eastern Caribbean this time on February 8th. OhioTim
After getting off the boat, we shared a taxi to Dunns Rive with another couple. The cost was $11.00 round trip and the driver found us for the return trip. Great deal. Leave a nice tip.
You will be dropped off at the beginning of the falls and will have to pay a fee to get in. About $6.00 each. Rent Water shoes or bring some.
the ship offers the falls and dolphin swim as a package - did it Oct 2001 - was great. Also there is a dolphin swim and snorkel in Cozumel that also great - did it through the ship in Nov. It is expensive, but well worth it.
