We are sailing on the Zuiderdam in May. Since we have been to Key West before, my husband made a suggestion that we take a seaplane and go to Dry Tortugas for some great snorkeling. Has anyone been there? If so would love to hear from you about your experiences. Also anyone who has done a snorkeling trip out of Key West would like info on what company you made your arrangements through.
Something to keep in mind... if you are coming into Key West from a non-US port and have to clear immigration, that could throw your schedule off a little. On our Thanksgiving cruise on the Maasdam recently, two cabins decided not to show up for immigration officials, which delayed the ENTIRE ship from disembarking. We got off the ship about 2.5 hours LATE (on an already short port day)... and we were one of the first ones off the gangway.
But a seaplane trip would sound neat! I've seen something about the various seaplane trips on the Travel Channel and they look great! Just beware if you have to deal with immigration and have fellow passengers who have zero respect for those wanting to get off the ship and choose to ignore their names being called overhead repeatedly.
