We're going at the end of the month (YAY!!!!!) and are considering taking a taxi to West End and going to Half Moon Bay...reefs right off the beach, snorkels to rent etc. You can also walk (20-30 min) down the beach to West End Beach, or you can take a quick water taxi there...good snorkeling sight there also. Check out: Travel-to-Honduras.com
There are also more pricier options...pay to go to Fosters Beach Club for the day etc...but this will feel a bit more touristy and crowded I'm guessing. Have fun!
Fosters is family owned, not touristy at all. Very laid back. They have a website.Great beach w/good food and cheap beer. Really nice family too! Yes there were sand (fleas/flies), Use the bug spray w/deet. make sure y spray under your arms too. they don't get you if you stay in the water. They will pick you up and take you back. You have to go outside the Gates for them to pick you up. This is because only certain groups are allowed in. Kind of politically motivated, have them tell you about it...
Tabyana Beach Party was Great! My wife does not like to snorkel so she stayed on the beach and went in the water. The have a buffet lunch and drinks. The ride to the beach was nice too. At one point they will stop and let you take photos of the bay.
