Does anyone bother to take malaria or other medications before a Western Caribbean cruise? Our stops on Carnival Inspiration are Belize, Costa Maya, Cozumel and Grand Cayman. Thanks for any info.
There is really no reason to take malaria medication in the Western Caribbean. First, malarial mosquitoes only bite at night. Second, the time in port would not nearly be enough exposure time to worry about taking any such precautions. So don't worry about it.
Have a great time

It is, however, a good idea to wear insect repellent containing DEET (I know, but you don't have to do this at hom) while anywhere in the Caribbean, as dengue is spread by day-biting mosquitoes. While it's not life-threatening the way malaria is, dengue is not pleasant for the few days it takes to ride out the disease.
