This Travel Warning is being issued to inform American citizens that, due to heightened levels of civil unrest, including violent confrontations between pro- and anti-government forces, the Department of State has authorized the departure of family members and non-emergency employees of the U.S. Embassy on a voluntary basis and urges American citizens to depart the country if they can do so safely...

Thanks. We are also watching the Dominican Republic. No new updates since 1/20. That is good news.

2 ships were turned back from puerto rico from dom rep last week. guide in dom rep told us they were preparing for a coup the foloowing week. dont go to DR without someone in the green shirts as a guide. it is not save.

correction: i didnt mean ships, i meant small boats with 150 to 250 people aboard trying to leave the DR and get to puerto rico. this is not new, but i feel very telling of the situtation in the DR right now.
