Default St. Thomas /St. Maarten

Hi, we are going on the Mariner of the Seas in May, stopping in St. Thomas and St. Maarten, we are looking for good beaches to go to on our own, ones that we can take a taxi to. Are there beaches that rent chairs, umbrellas, have food & drink? Somewhere where it's not all that far of a drive to get to. thanks for any help you can give us.

An easy beach from the cruise ship and fun beach bar is Everyt'ing Cool which is located in the middle of the main shopping area. (The Water Taxi to town is $5.00 per person for the whole day -- do this for shopping or to the beach in town.)The "optional" beach is Orient Beach which is lovely (except for some people who would look better WITH a bathing suit)!!! (You will need to take a regular taxi there.)

I recommend Coki Beach in St. Thomas and Orient Beach in St. Maarten. Both are easy to your own for the price of a cab ride. Both beaches have full amenities. At Orient beach, don't ask for facilities until you've rented beach chairs and umbrellas, because they'll send you way down the beach. Once you've spent the money, you get a very close option! Here's pictures of both:

on St. Thomas we like to take the water taxi to St. John Island and Trunk Bay Beach- beautiful beach with facilities.
on St.Maarten - Orient Beach is the most popular but parts of it are clothing optional if that's a concern. Dawn Beach is another great choice.

On St Thomas I like Coki beach over the more crowded Maegens Baty. All facilities, chairs food, bathrooms, scuba, snorkelling and right next door is a paid attraction called Coral World. Second Choice would be Saphire, third choice Maegens. I personally think these beaches are nice enough and would not waste the travel time to St Johns.
On St Martins I am a fan of Dawn Beach. Again rentals and food available , no crowds , pretty beach . There is a drop dead gorgeous pipeline break off of the reef offshore.
Friendly vendors. Good food available from the chair rental guy. He makes a killer rum punch .
