Default Grand Cayman/Cozumel activities

I've seen on some of the boards that you can oftentimes book excursions through private tour agencies for much cheaper than the cruise line. Has anyone had experience with this? Our stay in Cozumel is from 7am until midnight but the stop in Grand Cayman is only 7 hrs. What can you do in that short amount of time? Is golf a possibility? Any info is greatly appreciated!!!

You can do the stingray city/snorkel tour. We booked through an independent tour operator right on the pier after we got off the ship. The ship excursion was $45pp., and we paid $25. pp. It is an awesome experience. Then you can have them drop you along 7 mile beach and stay, and catch the bus back to the pier. Have a great cruise!

We spent time at 7 Mile Beach (took a taxi there and back) snorkeling and relaxing and then grabbed some food and drink and did some shopping in Georgetown while in Grand Cayman.

We rented a car in Czumel and HIGHLY recommend it! We spent the entire day exploring the island on our own and it's nearly impossible to get lost as there is only 1 major road around the entire island. We stopped at one of the beach clubs and hung out (no charge) and then stopped at El Cedral (small Mayan church), Punta Sur (guided park tour, Mayan lighthouse and ruins), drove along the rugged east coastline and stopped for lunch at Bite on the Beach (great mexican food and beers and to die for views), drove on to the ruins at San Gervasio, back into San Miguel, returned the car, went back to the ship and changed and went back for some shopping. It was a perfect day! Have fun! -Angie
