Re: beaches on St. Maarten
Go to the Orient Beach that's the best place. Have a nice cruise

Re: beaches on St. Maarten
thanks, do they have places to rent chairs, umbrella's, refreshments?

Re: Re: beaches on St. Maarten
I would also recommend Orient Beach - long, nice sand, beautiful water. Lots of places rent loungers and umbrellas. Plenty of restaurants (who also rent loungers etc). Most even have outdoor showers for the use of patrons and all have washrooms. Lots to do (waterslides etc).

how do you get to Orient beach? Taxi?

Re: beaches on St. Maarten
Orient Beach is fantastic! Great snorkeling too.

Re: beaches on St. Maarten
A nice alternative to Orient Beach is Dawn Beach.

Re: beaches on St. Maarten
FYI - parts of Orient Beach are clothing optional (if that's of a concern to you) Dawn is more family oriented.

Re: beaches on St. Maarten
There is also a beach right off of the dock there at no charge.

How far is it to Orient Beach? How do you get there from the ship? Cost?

Re: beaches on St. Maarten
how far is Orient Beach from the Ships? taxi ?

Re: beaches on St. Maarten
There is a regulated taxi stand right by the pier . It is 7 dollars to Orient beach( with at least 4 to a taxi( van) just wait till there are enough to go at that price, happens quick.
Taxi ride is about 15 minutes.Orient beach is on the other side of the island( small island) As for the clothing optional thing, don't worry we only saw one of two aging saggy men in g strings( ugly!) and one topless girl. No big deal.Don't look if you don't want to, BUT if you continue farther down the beach ( and yes there is a warning sign) you will see more of it. It is quite a walk so you won't " accidently " wander into a nudist colony LOL Taxi are always there to take you back. We thought the beach was lovely, and yes shop around for best prices, we got an umbrella and two lounge chairs for 15 bucks but if we had just walked down the beach abit further we could have had that plus a free drink each for 14 dollars. Also we got our first beers for $ 3.50 but our second beers ( I walked down the beach again) for 2 bucks each. It was the best day, wish we were back there! |
