Next Fall our cruise will stop in Aruba for a day. We want to spend the day at the beach, working on our tan before our winter sets in. any ideas what beach and hotel would make a good combo. Don't mind paying a fee at a hotel to use the facilities. Haven't been to Aruba in 10 years.
we stopped there for a day and asked a cab driver to take us to any hotel that we could rent chairs, etc. Apparently most hotels do this. The cab drivers are really nice and know all the spots. We had a wonderful day. All the beaches are fantastic. Just ask a cabbie.
You should not have to pay a fee to go to the beach in Aruba. Take a cab out to the high rise hotel area. Get dropped near the Holiday Inn. The Palm Beach area is the best and there is a pier called Pelican Pier that has a restaurant, snack bar, souvenir stands, restrooms etc. right on the beach.
Another alternative is to spend the day on DePalm Island. This will be offerd as a tour off your ship,
Another is to go to the Renesance Hotel (used to be Sonesta) in downtown Orangestad . They will let you take the boat out to their private island beach . They used to do it for about $40 perperson and it included food and drink.
Another alternative is to spend the day at Baby Beach. Just like a big salt water pool.
There are minimal facilities available, but you can have a nice time.
When we go into Aruba on a cruise ship we take a city bus[cost $1 each way]down to the Holiday and just go to the beach right .They let you use the facitities .There is a shower on the beach near the pool so you can wash the sand off.I dont know if you have every been to Aruba before but if there is no Sun ,they have cross winds and you can get a bad burn,so take care.
PS the bus ride to the Holiday inn is about 20 min.
