Does anyone know of a good BVI website that would help us plan our own shore excursion from RoadTown to Virgin Gorda to visit the baths? Looking for ferry schedules, taxi rates, etc. (Can always save lots of money doing it on our own versus cruiseship excursion)
Mandy, had a very bad experience at the Baths last summer - jellyfish! Althought it was absolutely beautiful, the bay was full of jellyfish and many people were stung, some quite seriously. we also found the caves too difficult to manoeuvre unless you are young and physically in top shape (my 14 yr. old had no problem and enjoyed it; luckily he did not meet any jellyfish!)
Sorry to hear about your jelly fish experience Rollerdonna.
We had a lovely time at The Baths in Feb - no jellyfish Thank heaven. I disagree with you about the need to be in top shape to navigate the caves and rocks at the Baths. I am middle-aged and have quite bad arthitis in both knees and I made it through - as did a couple in their 70s. It WAS an effort but it is doable even if you are not in the best shape.
Thanks for the heads up!! And sorry about the jelly fish experience - ugh! We have taken a land vacation on St John before, and spent time swimming there and at Jost Van Dyke, but never encoutered jelly fish. I've heard of people seeing baracuda though!!!
