Leaving for Bermuda the end of August. How is the weather that time of year? Humid? Rainy? And, is the ocean water still warm? Some have said we can expect rough seas as we sail to the island. Any info is appreciated?
Weather in Bermuda in August generally fine. Water temps great for swimming and snorkelling. Yo can encounter high surf and bad weather from tropical storms and hurricanes, but the odds favor good weather.
Seas to Bermuda are a bit different than sailing around in the big bathtub of the Caribbean. You are going 600 miles out into the Atlantic Ocean. Weather front coming off the east coast and storms travelling up the east coast can effect you "ride" , but again, odds for good weather are in your favor.
exactly what Papa Bill says, just remember that August is hurricane season in the Atlantic and you do run that risk. Bermuda was hammered by a hurricane just last year and had to close its ports. But the odds are in your favor for good weather.
