Default Tubing and YSFalls, Jamaica

We are booking a shore excursion while in Montego Bay Jamaica. We found a website for "Tours off the beaten path". The one we have chosen is Tubing & Visiting the YS Falls.
It sounds wonderful. We are wondering if anyone else has taken these tours and if so how was your experience.

I have not done this tour company. Please read the post on the Dunns river falls and the agressive vendors in Jamaica. You might want to stick with a ships sponsored tour.
Just my 2 cents worth

there was a program on the Discovery channel awhile back, talking about the YSF falls - they looked sooo beautiful and pristine! As long as you are dealing with a reputable tour company you will not have any problems, if you are going by cab, just make sure you use the bonded, government approved cabs and not the "gypsy" cab drivers. The bonded cabs are clearly marked. Sounds wonderfull!!

We climbed and tubed at YS Falls with "A to Z Jamaica Tours" back in June. I highly recommend this tour operator and this excursion!

One caveat - we were on the Caribbean Princess which docked in Montego Bay. The ride to YS Falls was over an hour. However, the driver and guide were excellent, the small bus was comfortable and air-conditioned, and it was one of the highlights of our cruise.

Don't miss the jerk chicken served at a roadside stand at the base of YS Falls! We bought it and ate it on the way back to Montego Bay, along with some Red Stripe beer, at the suggestion of the tour guide.

Since YS is so far from port, I would be very careful that you book with a reliable tour operator.

I did the tubing down the river with the company on the visitjamaica.com site and it was great. I would highly recommend it. I would keep asking about this company. They are probably fine as their economy relies on tourism.

I'm sure you have their website but just in case.

Here was a review of someone who used them.
http://www.cruisereviews.com/Carniva...piration17.htm

They are also advertised on
http://www.goneawol.com/listcompanies.asp?let=B (I know that they can just pay for this service but I like to see the company in more than just one spot.)

Don't know if this will give you more information to make you decision or not. Like I said the tubing with the other company was really fun. We went out of Ochos Rios but they do go out of Mo Bay.

Good Luck.

Jen,

Thank you for your information. I booked the Barrett tours . The owner was really quick about emailing back. We reserved 6 spots for us and our friends. Carolyn the owner of the tour operation said she works it as" our tour" :meaning we can come back to the port for time to go to margaritaville or stay at the falls longer. I thought that was very nice. After I return I will be sure to let everyone here know how our trip went.
thanks again, Pam
